Tell An Untold Story Research

The word I chose to begin this project with was 'Silence', in the conversations I had with people about this word I found a running theme of people having negative associations with it. This prompted me to begin looking at the inverse, noise. My idea initially was to look into background noise and what constitutes to it. So I took myself on a field trip to the moores where I'd hoped to find some sort of inspiration.






As lovely a trip as it was, I didn't return feeling particularly keen on any of the ideas that I was having. I was trying to make sense of all the recordings and photography etc, that I had taken by drawing and collaging. However there was no spark. Whilst having a conversation with someone I started to think about using music as a means of exploring this topic. So I began speaking to people about some of their favourite pieces of music in order to gain an understanding of what it means to them. To progress further I am going to continue these conversations and explore communicating the relationship that a person has with a specific piece of music in a visual way. Collage seems to be the most likely method through which I'll do this as I will develop the images digitally which will give me freedom to play.
