Cover Development

These are some of the outcomes that I have produced whilst designing for the front and back cover spread for the book. The main aims I had whilst visualising my ideas where:

- Suggestion to day and night
- Include main motifs from book in order to draw all ideas collectively in the cover
- Use colours from same colour scheme that link to the inside pages
- Bold, simply shapes that catch attention and are enticing to the audience
- Be playful and engaging to the younger audience

I think that in my final idea for the cover, these aims have been reached successfully. We are both really happy with the way that the cover has turned out. It took a while deciding on what we thought would be most relevant to use for the cover image, but along the way we have created a set of other ideas that we where thinking could potentially be used toward creating a short animation to post on social media, for example, that would act as a marketing tool.

Here are the designs we resulted with, with the bottom being the final:

The spine is an area of the book that I think works particularly well, looking forward to seeing how it looks in situation. Using this combination of colours in a series of waves that acts as a playful separation between day and night (and front and back). We also decided to use the shape as a way to display the barcode for the book if it where to be published.

Final Reflective Report

The extended project has allowed me to investigate a range of concepts and practical processes that are fundamental to my practice. I feel...
