Insights taken from presentation:
- Need to find a bit more of a contextual foundation for my project. Headed in the right direction but a bit more research is required in order to find the hook that will inform my making.
- Looking at narratives of music might be a bit too subjective, the outcomes could potentially be anything. I would like to have more informed imagery/outcomes that have more of a meaning and context behind them.
- Is narrative the right thing to be working with? Maybe researching into the technicalities of the relationship between visual design and music could be a better path.
- Continue to evolve your current ways of making whilst also involving new processes such as use of the Wacom pad.
- Big focus on the ephemera that surrounds music - particularly the more dated ones such as vinyl/cd covers. I have huge admiration for these as they provide the owner of them with an even greater relationship with the music. Compared with the streaming environment where a song will come and go in the blink of an eye.
- Could be interesting to look into ways the this relationship and tactility of music ephemera could be provided in the streaming world?
Next Steps (Sprint):
- Build up more research, go to library and find documentaries (re watch one about John Coltrane)
- Continue making, just play in sketchbook and experiment with using layouts and typography.
