...Government guidance.
Jokes aside, last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. Have been too preoccupied mentally by everything happening with the pandemic to be getting any proper work done. Now I have left Leeds and am back home in London. Have moved all of my stuff back here as by the sounds of it we are going to be under this lockdown for a lot longer than 3 weeks. Feels like we are living in an Orwellian dystopia of sorts. The changes this has made to the course and what we're able to submit means that I can no longer make a printed publication like I had hoped to nor can I do any more screen printing.
Rather than dwell on the negatives of this situation, I'm feeling confident that I can still tackle this brief with as much enthusiasm and motivation as I would've done sans coronavirus. I may not be able to do any digital/screen printing from here onwards, however I can create digital versions of these. Just going to have to use this situation as a constraint and try to develop my ideas slightly differently. I'm feeling fortunate that a lot of my usual process is already digital. I still plan to create the publication but will instead create a mocked up version of it. I think that trying to incorporate moving image into my outcomes now that I will have more time (as not printing/binding the publication) would be a good move and help me refine After Effects skills which has been a 603 goal of mine.
I am now going to be working from home for the remainder of my degree which is something I have not always been too comfortable with as I find it hard to remain motivated. But hopefully the fact that we are all in solitary confinement for the foreseeable future will limit distractions and allow me to get a lot done. There are a few rules I've come up with for myself to ensure I do not get derailed at any point:

New home studio digs, by day
...And by night.
- Stick to a routine, no sleeping in and dress for the day. No work in pyjamas, even trakkies...
- Keep in contact with course mates, arrange virtual crits every now and then to receive feedback and help with others ideas.
- Keep in contact with tutors, ask questions when needed.
- Digitise all of the work you have and be as thorough as possible with the rest of the blog to ensure that everything is detailed and visible for submission.
- Think outside the box and keep chin up!
Another aspect of this situation that I feel positive about is that it's more or less a last chance trial run for the life of a freelancer. I still don't know if that's the career path that I want to head toward after uni. However, the discipline and intrinsic motivation that I will need to keep myself on track and get this degree finished will be a great last minute learning curve before entering the big wide world. Here goes...
A bit of situation inspired procrastination of mine
